The Yangla Adventist Church on Umboi Island, Siassi, successfully completed its inaugural motor canoe voyage to Kampalap village. The vessel, transported vital construction and ministry materials from Lablab Jetty to the Kampalap branch church in Kampalap village.
This maiden trip signifies a new era for the church's efforts to connect and support its scattered congregations across the Siassi archipelago, where rugged terrain and vast ocean expanses often hinder access. For decades, church members have braved challenging conditions using traditional canoes or foot travel. The acquisition of the reliable 30-foot motor canoe "Mon," 60 horse power motor funded by Morobe Mission Administration and local community drives, now enables safer and more frequent deliveries of essential supplies.

The operation began at dawn at Lablab Jetty, where a team of dedicated volunteers, including church elders, church pastor, youth leaders, and experienced seafarers, meticulously loaded the Mon. The cargo consisted of building materials for the Kampalap branch church. These materials are destined to renovate and expand the Kampalap branch church.
"Today, we witness God's faithfulness in action," shared Pastor Pris Kipongi, pastor of Yangla Seventh-day Adventist Church. "The 'Mon' is a transport, bridging the waters that separate us and carrying the message of hope to our brothers and sisters. Just as Noah's ark preserved life, this canoe preserves our mission in these beautiful but challenging islands."
Navigating the rough waters of the Vitiaz Strait and Bismark Sea, with the canoe's powerful outboard engine cutting through light swells. These materials will transform our humble church into a beacon for the community, drawing more hearts to the Adventist faith amidst the natural wonders of Umboi Island."

This initiative reflects the Seventh-day Adventist Church's commitment to holistic service in Papua New Guinea's rural and island communities, blending spiritual growth with practical development. Church leaders envision the "Mon" facilitating ongoing missions, including medical clinics and evangelistic cruises to neighboring Islands
